Objectives and functions

Cardona Council has made the revival of its heritage the backbone of the social and economic development of the town. In that regard, with the aim of carrying out projects that show its commitment to managing the heritage and promoting cultural tourism, the Cardona Historic Foundation was set up in 2006, which is a private foundation of municipal initiative.

OBJECTIVES AN FUNCTIONS

The purpose of the Cardona Historic Foundation (CHF) is set out in article 3 of its Articles of Association:

"Purpose of the Foundation: the study, promotion, knowledge, social recovery, conservation, rehabilitation and management of monuments, documents, and artistic and natural heritage of Cardona; in particular, the management of the Salt Mountain Cultural Park in the Vall Salina, included within the Plan for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty of Catalonia”.

The CHF manages various heritage and tourist centres:

• Salt Mountain Cultural Park
• Cardona Medieval Centre and the guided tours of the Historic Centre.
• Cardona Castle, within the framework of Agreement with the Generalitat for the management of tours of the monuments as a whole.
• Any other centre it may create or manage in the future.
